About This Course

In this engaging 6-week program, students will learn the essentials of debate and persuasive communication, building confidence, clarity, and critical thinking skills. Key topics covered include structuring arguments, using persuasive techniques like ethos, pathos, and logos, identifying logical fallacies, and debating respectfully. Each week, we explore a new focus area through structured lessons that include a short lecture, interactive slides, and real-life examples, followed by hands-on practice and peer discussion.

Learning Goals:
Build Speaking Confidence
Students will practice techniques to reduce speaking anxiety, helping them feel comfortable sharing their ideas confidently in front of others.
Create Clear Arguments
Students will learn to structure arguments with clarity, using claim, evidence, and reasoning to make their points concise and impactful.
Use Persuasive Techniques (Ethos, Pathos, Logos)
By practicing ethos, pathos, and logos, students will learn to make their arguments more engaging and persuasive.
Recognize and Avoid Logical Fallacies
Students will identify common fallacies to strengthen their critical thinking and build logical, well-supported arguments.
Debate Respectfully and Productively
Students will develop skills to engage in respectful debates, focusing on active listening and thoughtful responses for constructive discussions.

My teaching style is interactive, supportive, and focused on making learning fun and practical. Lessons are designed to keep students engaged with activities like games, group exercises, and role-playing debates, as well as multimedia tools like video clips that highlight persuasive strategies in action. Throughout the course, students will have plenty of chances to interact, both with me and their peers, through live discussions, group feedback, and weekly practice exercises. Each student will receive personalized feedback to encourage growth, and by the end of the course, they’ll have gained valuable tools for effective communication in academic, social, and future professional settings.
